About the Author

Kristine Putz is the mother of twin toddlers, Scarlett and Wyatt, who were born at 27 weeks in June 2017.  Their birth and the NICU experience that followed were nothing short of traumatic.  After spending 72 long days in the NICU at the U of M Masonic Children’s Hospital, Kristine and her husband Robert were able to take them home.

Currently, Kristine serves on the March of Dimes Minnesota Family Council and advocates for the support of NICU families through her writing.  Kristine has various articles published on Scary Mommy and The Mighty that continue the discussion of birth trauma, PTSD, weariness, and isolation that often go with a NICU stay.  NICU life both during and post NICU stay is isolating and flooded with emotion.  Without support, it can feel like you are drowning.  It’s her hope that through reading this, you feel a little less alone.
